Can I use Frontier or Detour Cookware over an open fire?

Frontier and Detour Pots are not designed for use over an open fire. Here’s why:

Handle damage:
- Both products use a Click-Safe handle with a nylon release tab.
- Exposure to campfire heat would melt the nylon, permanently damaging the handle and creating a potential injury risk if the mechanism is used afterward.
Cookware damage:
- Frontier and Detour Collapsible Cookware have silicone rubber sidewalls that would be permanently damaged by direct flame or high campfire heat.
Soot buildup:
- Open fires may produce heavy soot, which can be oily depending on the wood used.
- This soot is extremely difficult to clean, especially from coated cookware.

Recommendation: If you want to cook over an open fire, use older stainless steel cookware without coatings – not Frontier or Detour pots.
